Hola ALA Loyal Service Unit 37 members and American Legion family!
My name is Teresa Copeland and I’m currently serving as the Unit 37 President. Our officers for the 2023-2024 term are CJ Walker-Vice president, Anna Bruton-Secretary, Trish Harris- Treasurer, Barbara Lundgren-Chaplain, Gale Ryan-Historian, Therese Varner- Sgt at Arms and Linda Barbour, Dora Villa, Linda Miller and Raquel Swayze are our E-board members.
We’ve had 3 meetings so far and have been busy, busy. In August we celebrated our Unit’s 80 th birthday.
In September we participated with the Post in their 9-11 and POW/MIA ceremonies.
In October we held a bake sale for Cancer Research every Wednesday, raising $600 for this Texas only program and had an outstanding Children and Youth Halloween party for the community kids. Also in October, delegates from Unit 37 attended the District 15 convention at Post 93 in Mission. On top of that, we’ve have 50/50 raffles every Friday and sponsor a meat draw once a month at Post 37.
Our next meeting has been moved to November 4 th at 10:30 am.
We will be working on our plans for upcoming events so please join us for upcoming events, Veterans Day is right around the corner and anyone with a 2024 card for Post, Unit or Squadron 37, will get a free meal on that day.
Poppy distribution will kick off in November and we could definitely use some volunteers. On Thanksgiving the Legion family will sponsor a free turkey dinner here at Post 37 so come join our family as we celebrate with gratitude.
On December 2 nd we will sponsor a garage sale with tables available to rent so gather your items, crafts or baked goods and join us.

Keep in mind that your 2023 membership expires on December 31 st .

the pies are done,
now we'll all come together,
for some good family fun,
and as we gather together
And bow our heads to pray
Let us all try to remember
Why we're thankful this day
We are thankful for family
And thankful for friends
We are thankful for our Country
Where the dreams never end
We are thankful for our veterans
Who put their life on the line
And for all those currently serving
Protecting both your rights and mine
Then we look to the heavens
And close our prayer with AMEN

Thank you to everyone that helped with our garage sale. We didn't have a big crowd and we learned a few lessons for next time but..we made $225 in sales and table rentals. That money will go to help a needy veteran family this Christmas! Kudos Unit 37 ❤️
